Between the aftermath of Sandy and the threat of  Nor’easter, Yankee Gas Co. said Monday it is sending crews to the battered streets of New Jersey to help with recovery efforts.

Yankee crews will be joined by some from its Northeast Utilities’ sister company, NSTAR Gas out of Massachusetts. The crewmen are going to help along the coast of New Jersey where not only electricity has been knocked out, but gas service as well.

They depart around 2 p.m. today.

A Nor’easter is heading towards the region and is expected to hit on Wednesday.
